We decided to go for a nice family breakfast to one of our favourite restaurants this morning, but so did half the town, lol. You know how it goes, you step in right after a table of 30 ordered off the menu and you know you'll have to wait for those 30 to get their food before you get yours. On the plus side, by the time we got our food the kids were so hungry they gobbled up their entire meal, with almost NO talking, lol. I quickly made another card last night after I saw one by Andrea Walford made with some of our new DSP, called Woodland Walk, very pretty paper. This card is pretty much an exact case, other then I didn't see that she had actually used Early Espresso and not Basic Black like I did. I love Fridays, almost as much as Saturdays but not as much as Sundays, lol. I was able to make a card today and the kids are having a great day too, well other then the odd blow up but that's normal, right?! I got the inspiration for this card on SCS, it was for a Techniques Challenge, to double emboss on a card. So you first heat emboss your image and then dry emboss the final product. I have to say I'm please with the results. For the colouring, I used my blender pens and started with the darkets spots first and slowly worked my way outwards. Then I took the darker colours and deepened just the shaded areas. My garden is loving the rain right now and I am loving the smell of rain. The kids have resorted to using all of our dining room chairs, the living room furniture, and their blankets to make a tent just in case the rain turns into a "bad storm". Now we'll wait and see how good they are at cleaning up once they're done, lol. I wish the lighting in the house had been better when I took this picture, it really doesn't show just how bright and fun this new Poppy Parade colour is! It's quickly becoming one of my favourites of the new In Colors. I stamped the image on watercolour pp and used my blender pens to colour the flower and leaves. Then I carefully cut out the flower so I could mount it on the circle. You can't see it in the picture but I sponged some Old Olive lightly on the Very Vanilla circle. What a beautiful summer day again, right now the kids are playing outside with the sprinkler and I get to stare at my garden that finally received a little TLC again. It's been a busy week and it was crying for some attention! I knew when Stampin' Up! started carrying the pearls and rhinestones in sheets I would be in trouble, lol. Those things are so easy to go nuts with! This project took me forever to complete, I started last night and finished this morning. Not that it I was working on it the entire time, we did typical summer stuff in between. I always save the cardboard that comes with our designer paper for things just like this. I glued the soft suede cardstock to the front and back of a square piece of the cardboard and then ran it through my Bigshot with a scallop circle die. Yikes, if I look back over my last few posts I'm all over the place in terms of style and colours. You'll agree once you see today's post, lol. What can I say, I love all styles... This card took me forever to make, I had a vision in my mind and it of course turned out nothing like vision, but not for lack of trying. And of course the picture makes it look a little blah too, I promise it looks better IRL. I really wanted to use the new Crochet Trim and of course the new pearls. LOVE LOVE those pearls. Now I can use as many as I want and not wonder what I'll do with the rest of the stuff in the kit! And they're priced really well too, yeah! I also used our new paper flowers to make the 3-D flowers. It's very simple. On the slightly bigger flower I used four small flowers and coloured them with my brayer. Then I put a dollop of glue in the center of each one, take on flower and pinch it together forming a small mini flower. Hold together until tacky. Now snip the ...

When you can't go to the tropics, why not bring them to you, lol. I saw this card posted by the talented Theresa Momber (such a talented artist) and couldn't wait to try it. I used the new stamp set "Plant Hope" and tons of different colours. My first attempt I used my brayer but it just wasn't looking even remotely like her card. So I did what she did and grabbed for my sponges. This card used a ton of different colours all trying to mimic her colours. I definitely want to try this card again with fewer mistakes. (don't look too hard!) Hi everyone! It's a bit of a blah day in our home today, my one son is feeling a little under the weather today and I must be getting old because my body is screaming for me to take a nap and I keep saying no, lol. Of all the stamp sets staring at me waiting to be used, I went with a baby one last night, lol. Go figure. I stamped the teddy and tees with black ink on water colour pp and then coloured the teddy first with Crumb Cake ink and then used Early Espresso in the shadows. The baby tees were done using a blender pen, it's my preferred tool for colouring smaller areas. I sponged the edges of the paper with some more Crumb Cake and then used hemp twine for my "wash line". I was really hoping to find some of those little wooden clothes pins at the dollar store but found nothing. So for now the tees and teddy are popped up on dimmensionals. I've had a busy week preparing for my Catalogue Kick Off party which we had last night. And wouldn't you know it, that's the day my first big order arrived! It was torture seeing all my stamp sets and pretty papers just begging to be used, but I was too busy preparing for the party to use any of it. My daughter on the other hand begged and pleaded to use the "The Nicest Things" stamp set, she had wanted to colour those two little girls since the second she saw that stamp set. So I had to watch with envy as she hummed and coloured, lol. But on a fun note, I had my party last night and what fun it was! We were 20 stampers, some were new to me and some were regulars, but we all share the love of stamping! I was going to take photos and completely forgot, oops. We made three cards instead of the two that I announced, with the great response I had to the party I figured it might be better to split into 3 groups vs 2 big ones. It's a question that gets asked often as a child, and still gets asked as a grown up. Why do I ask this? Because I'm sure by now you all think my favourite is black, lol. Seriously, I have no favourite colour but it seems like it makes it into my life a lot. Even when I go buy clothing, I find a style that I really like, but it only comes in black. I find a card that I really like, but it's made using black. You get the picture. And now on to my card, my black card, lol. I saw this card made by Leanne Pugliese and loved how striking the flower was left uncoloured. And you'll notice the new embossing folder too, love how beautiful this one is, and how pronounced! The flower was stamped on Very Vanilla twice and then I used a circle die on the one image, just slightly cutting off the top of the flower. I cut out just the flower head on the second image and popped that up with dimensionals over the first image. I'll also mention that the Because I Care stamp set is one...
