Birthday Roses

Image
Good morning everyone! It looks like our week is about to turn wet and windy, which makes for perfect crafting time. I am a huge fan of rain, I love a day of steady rain or drizzle, my husband would rather just have a good downpour and then sunshine but where's the stamping fun in that?! Lol. I got the inspiration for this card from a couple of places so I don't really know who gets the credit for it. I stamped the roses on water colour pp and using my blender pen I first shaded in some Certainly Celery and then went into the darkest spots with Always Artichoke to really give the roses some depth. The sentiment is stamped with white craft ink and I tried to go over the craft ink with Certainly Celery chalk but it doesn't really show very well. The front panel is textured with the new embossing folder that will be available for purchase on May 1st. Love this folder, it totally changes the look and feel of the paper. He Loves me, He Loves me Not

Image
I think all of us can remember as kids carefully searching for the right flower and plucking the petals off one by one reciting "He loves me, he loves me not" all the while hoping that the crush of the week would love me, lol. What does that have to do with today's card you might ask? Well I think I should find myself a flower to help me decide wether I like it or not, hehe. I look at it from one angle and I like it, then I look at it again... I stamped the rose three times with versmark and then heat embossed them with black EP. Next I cut each rose out, each time cutting a smaller flower. I coloured them with Pretty in Pink ink on the back which actually helped the flowers curl a little and gave them a slight hint of colour. I used the brad to stack them together. Otherwise the card is basic. The from panel is embossed with a texture plate and then adhered with dimensionls for extra interest. What a Day

Image
Ever have one of those days where you're just a grouch? You'd like to blame it on the kids but in reality you know that it's you. But as always a little cardmaking usually helps put you in better spirits, at least for a little while, lol. When I saw this designer paper on the clearance rack I jumped at the chance, especially since it uses Pacific Point which is a returning In Colour that'll be available in July. To see the clearance rack click on the link on the left hand side of my blog, savings are huge! I stamped the flowers from the Fifth Avenue Floral set on water colour pp and painted them with my aqua painters and ink pads. Stamps: Fifth Avenue Floral, Teeny Tiny Wishes Paper: Pacific Point, Kiwi Kiss, Whisper White, Apricot Appeal, DSP ? (Sorry I forgot what it's called) Ink: Pacific Point, Basic Black, Apricot Appeal Other: Clear Rhinestones Thanks for stopping by! Tina

I am in Colour Heaven!

Image
I'm also in Internet heaven right now. We finally have our own connection again and I'm am Mr Speedy over here, yay!! My husband says I have a "slight" computer addiction... (((whispering))) I don't deny it... I got my samples of the new core colours in the mail yesterday and I am LOVIN' the new colours. I am so excited for the new colours and previous In Colours coming back, I can't wait to see the beautiful designer papers they're going to come up with. I have a feeling there are going to be some spectacular Christmas papers this year... I've wanted to try this card ever since I saw it and these colours just go so well together. I really wish the colours came across better in the picture, IRL they are just so stunning together. And I think Early Espresso will be my favorite brown, love how deep and trendy it looks. I can't wait to place my first order, but I think I might have to get another job, lol. Stamps: All Holidays Paper: Early Espre...

Sneak Peaks

What a beautiful spring day, I just can't believe how much like summer it already feels. The kids went to a friends house this afternoon and they actually played with a sprinkler on the trampoline! Love it, but I keep telling myself we could still get a snow storm so I want to enjoy it while I can! I got my pre-order stuff from the new Summer mini and wowsas, some nice stuff in there! I particularly like the new embossing folder, it really changes how the paper looks and even feels. On this card (which I cased from someone over at SCS) I used the Elements of Style stamp set which will be available in the new mini starting May 1st. Beautiful set. I stamped the main image on water colour paper, coloured it in and then carefully cut it out to mount on the middle piece. The background is made using another stamp from the Elements of Style set, I stamped it repeatedly and then ran it through the bigshot using the new embossing folder, Square Lattice. I was pleasantly surprised how it lo...

I'm Blown Away...

Image
By the wind that is, argh it's been such windy couple of days and I hate windy days. When we lived in Alberta it was quite common to get strong gusts but here it just seems wrong if we have a few days of blowing. I love BBQing and my taste buds have been hungry for some grilled vegetables and a burger but with this wind I'm thinking they would be a little too "seasoned" by the blowing dust that's in the air. You step outside for two seconds and you feel like you could take a shower, blech. But I'm sure you didn't come here to hear me whine about the weather, lol. I'm always in need of more thank you cards so I think I'm going to build up my stock and hopefully that'll be enough for a while! I really should start leaving my cards without the sentiment and then I can just add one later on to suit my needs, but I am far too impatient and love to see the finished product right away and not a month later! I am an instant gratification kind of girl, ...

Glad We're Friends

So as promised, no roses this time! Lol. I made this card a few days ago and just hadn't taken the time to post it, my Internet connection right now is so fickle. I saw this card on SCS and thought it was something I wanted to try. I created the mask by tearing strips of paper and piecing it together until I had a square and then sponged in the different colours. Before I removed the mask I used the colour spritzer with a black marker, I felt like it gave the squares a little more texture and depth. The flowers are embossed with black embossing powder. Stamps: Of the Earth Paper: Kraft, Basic Black, Very Vanilla Ink: Apricot Appeal, Rich Razzleberry, Old Olive, Basic Black Have a great day! Tina

More Roses

Image
I know I know, once I latch onto something that I love you don't see anything else for a while, lol. I promise this will be the last card with this combo, but I loved the first card with the pink and thought it would probably look pretty with a striking yellow. When Crushed Curry first came out I hated that colour, I mean hated it. I never used it until recently. Funny how our minds can be changed with just the right colour combination! So this card is pretty much the same as my first one other than a slight layout change. Once again I used a nestability to cut out the sentiment and sponged Crushed Curry on it while it was still in the die. It's a little hard to see again in the photo but it adds a nice soft touch of colour so that it's not so stark. Stamps: Friends 24-7, All Holidays Paper: Basic Black, Whisper White, Crushed Curry, Always Artichoke Ink: Basic Black, Crushed Curry Other: Clear Rhinestones Have a great weekend! Tina

Rose Mania

Image
Oh how I loooooooooooooooove these roses, especially with this colour combo! I saw a card similar to this on the web (sorry don't remember where) and I just knew I wanted to try this. If you're in the Steinbach area and would like to learn how to make these roses I'll be having a class this Monday and I still have a few spots left, so give me a shout and join us in making these roses which are really simple to make! I used the Friends 24-7 stamp to create my "dsp" and the sentiment was run through with a nestability and then sponged in pink while it was still in the die, so pretty in real life. Update: I added the clear rhinestones and I think it really adds a ton of elegance to the card. Glad I added them! Stamps: Friends 24-7, Echoes of Kindness Paper: Basic Black, Pink Pirouette, Always Artichoke, Whisper White Ink: Basic Black, Pink Pirouette Thanks for stopping by! Tina

Medallion card

Image
I love this background stamp, LOVE it. I've been having trouble getting a good clear image but I'm thinking that's just a good excuse to practice, lol. Very simple card, I stamped the medallion on a piece of cardstock and than cut it into 1 1/8" strips with the black pieces being 1 1/4" x 4. For the centre of the card I stamped the medallion on an extra piece and punched it out with the 1 3/4" punch, the mat is made using a nestability. A rhinestone in the centre finishes the card nicely. Stamps: Medallion Background Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black Ink: Basic Black Other: Clear Rhinestone brad Have a great day! Tina

Colour Renovation

Image
I am so excited about Stampin' Up's latest announcement! They are having a major colour renovation, which means we'll see some new trendy colours in the colour families. 25 of the original colours are staying, 10 previous in colours are returning (yay!), and 5 brand new colours!! Plus we will of course get 5 new in colours as well, but the best part is that these in colours will stay for 2 years instead of one and they will still introduce 5 new in colours every year, which means in a year we'll always have 10 in colours with 5 being rotated out every year. This gives everyone a little longer to collect their favourites. Another change they've made is that there will now be 10 ink pads in each colour collection instead of 12 and the neutrals counts as one. I think my favourite new colour is going to be the expresso brown, love how dark it is! You will have until the end of June to stock up on colours, this includes, ink pads, markers, paper, crayons, markers, access...

I'm back!

Image
It turns out that I can get a weak Internet signal while we wait for ours to be connected, it's slow but better than nothing! I made this card this afternoon while my daughter was having a play date. I finally got around to using my French Script background stamp. I have so many sets right now that I just haven't had the time to ink up yet but I'm hoping that I'll catch up soon. I stamped the butterfly in basic black and than used my blender pens to colour the wings, unfortunately this stamp is retired. Stamps: God's Beauty, French Script, (Sorry I don't remember where the leaves are from) Paper: Kraft, Orchid Opulance, Whisper White, Basic Black Ink: Old Olive, Rich Razzleberry, Orchid Opulance Other: White Satin Ribbon, Halfback Pearls, Thanks for stopping by! Acccccccck!

Hi everyone, I hope you all had a great Easter weekend! We spent the weekend with family in Alberta and it's nice to be home again, I'm sure you can all relate. We are in the midst of changing Internet providers and won't be up and running until the 13th! I'm lost without my daily Internet fix, but maybe with all the time on my hands I'll get tons of cards made and post them like a mad woman next week, stay tuned lol. Sorry about the lack of posting but things have slowed down now so I should be back to regular postings soon! Have a great day! Tina
